- October 21, 2021
NFL player Michael Jordan was found dead last Friday, a day after he was found in his home in Chicago.
According to reports, Jordan’s body was discovered in his basement apartment, where he was apparently sleeping when he died.
The Miami Herald says that Jordan was a “world-class basketball player” and was a member of the National Basketball Association’s Chicago Bulls, but was “disowned” by his family.
Michael Jordan was killed in a home invasion.
He was found sleeping in his bedroom, but police believe he died of an accidental overdose of an opioid overdose.
“It’s just so heartbreaking,” his father, Phil, told The Sun newspaper.
Police said the former NBA star’s body had been found in the basement of his apartment building, but had not released a cause of death.
Jordan’s death was the third in less than a week in Chicago, where police said he was shot to death on Thursday.
A man who was shot in the face and suffered several other wounds was also taken to a hospital.
In the past two weeks, two people have been shot in Chicago: a 21-year-old man was shot near the South Side in the Englewood neighborhood, and a 35-year old man was stabbed in the leg and arm outside a bar in Chicago’s Englemont neighborhood.
Authorities have also been searching for a man suspected of fatally stabbing a Chicago police officer on Saturday.
Chicago has seen more homicides than any other U.S. city this year.
