By Matt RourkeThe Associated PressStaff writerCollege football equipment and training equipment company West Central Equipment has sold a record $12 million stake in the company it owns in West Central.
The transaction was announced Friday in a statement by West Central’s chief executive, Robert Foye.
West Central has been sued numerous times over its equipment and has agreed to settle at least four lawsuits.
In July, a Texas judge struck down West Central as a class-action plaintiff, but he gave the company a temporary restraining order until the judge ruled on whether the company can continue as a defendant in a case filed by the Texas attorney general’s office.
The company is now a seller of training equipment under the West Central brand.
The company said the sale would bring a combined sales of $3.8 million.
West Central bought a controlling interest in WestCentral Equipment Co. in March 2015.
That year, West Central bought out West Central Training Co. for $2.2 million.
WestCentral and WestCentral Training Co., which both are part of the WestCentral Group, have a combined market value of about $1.6 billion.
