Why ‘Grimm’ won’t be the only film to be based on a novel by Stephen King
- August 7, 2021
The next installment of the hit HBO series “Game of Thrones” won’t make use of King’s novel “It,” according to producer J.J. Abrams.
“Grimms” won a Golden Globe and an Emmy for best TV miniseries and won several other awards for its storytelling, but Abrams said “Game” isn’t in the running to take the crown.
“We’re not going to make it, and if we make it we’ll get the other one,” Abrams said.
“It’s a great book and we’re not interested in doing it.”
As part of the deal for “Game,” Abrams is also bringing “Grims” creator J.K. Rowling to Hollywood to direct a new “Harry Potter” movie.
The new movie is still being developed and is expected to hit theaters in 2019.
But Abrams said the new film is still in early development and could be in development for many years to come.
“Harry Potter is a very long process and it’s a very challenging film, but we’ve learned so much from it,” Abrams told reporters in Los Angeles.
“We’ve learned from the way the story is told.
We’ve learned about the people and their journey.
And we’re working on that.”
The “Game”‘s producer told reporters he was happy to be part of a film that has the potential to make a statement about “the dangers of entertainment.”
“We love our fans,” Abrams continued.
“They love it, they love our characters, and we want to make sure they have the chance to experience the film in the best possible way.”
