How a sports training gear company got into basketball training
- August 1, 2021
The story of a new company that uses high-end sports equipment and technology to train athletes at the local, state, and national levels of play is set to be told in a new book, Sports Training: The Story of Basketball, by author Andrew Fung.
The Sports Training series is a collaboration between the Sports Illustrated Sports Department and the National Hockey League, and Fung has been reporting on the industry for years.
He was previously the editor of Sports Illustrated’s Hockey Illustrated series, which has been the go-to sports magazine for many of the most successful professional athletes and coaches in the world.
“This book is about my journey from a player on the basketball team to an owner of a sports apparel company and the impact this industry has had on me and my family,” Fung said.
“The stories behind my stories are compelling and I want to share them with people around the world, because they will never be as powerful or influential as they are now.
Sports Training is a unique look at the growth and evolution of the sport of basketball.
In Sports Training, Fung details the journey he and his wife, Kelly, took to bring basketball training gear to the forefront. “
In my book, I detail the journey that led me from being an amateur player, a professional basketball player, and a professional sports coach, to becoming a billionaire,” Fong said.
In Sports Training, Fung details the journey he and his wife, Kelly, took to bring basketball training gear to the forefront.
They were first introduced to basketball training at the age of 7, when their dad, Mike, was a rookie guard for the Chicago Bulls.
“Our dad always used to go into a gym, play basketball, and practice his shooting and defense,” Fucong said in a phone interview with National Review.
“As I got older, I was like, ‘Oh, my God, what do I do?”’
Fucovos son and daughter were able to catch up to their dad.
The family started a basketball training company and then opened their own store in their hometown of L.A. “I got into professional basketball at the very age of 15,” Fucco said.
Fucos son, Andrew, also began playing basketball at 16.
Fung says that the family quickly realized that basketball training wasn’t a new concept for kids, and they were able quickly find a way to make it affordable for kids in need of sports equipment.
“We made our own equipment and sold it to some people. “
We had to compromise, because we had a very strict no-show policy on our equipment,” Fuckings son, Kelly Fucovich, told National Review .
“We made our own equipment and sold it to some people.
And we were still able to go to school and play.
But the biggest hurdle was the fact that our equipment had to be made in China.
The cost of materials was prohibitive.”
After a few years of experimenting, Fucoveys son and Kelly Fuccovich realized that they had found the perfect solution.
They opened their first store in L. a few blocks from their parents.
Fast forward to 2018, when Fuco, Kelly and their business partner, John Fucow, decided to open a new business that would take advantage of the popularity of basketball training.
Fucking Sports Training started in January 2018, and by the end of the year, it had more than 20 stores across the country.
The Fucous were able for the first time to offer training equipment to high-profile NBA players like LeBron James and Chris Paul.
In 2018, the Fucoses sold their company to Adidas, which took over the business in 2020.
Fuccos son Andrew was hired by the NBA to oversee the sales of the gear.
During his time with the league, Fuccinos son Andrew became an NBA All-Star and was named a member of the All-NBA First Team.
Fucking Sports Training has been one of the hottest sports training companies in the U.S. for the last five years.
Fucking’s products are now being used in all facets of the NBA and even the NHL.
“My son and I have worked with many of our clients at Nike and Adidas and we have seen the impact these brands have had in creating more affordable, high-quality basketball training products for our customers,” Kelly Fuho said in an email to National Review “We believe that there is a need in the sports world for a new brand of equipment that provides the highest level of safety, comfort, and performance for the players, coaches, and fans that make up the most competitive and entertaining basketball league in the country,” Fuhos father, Andrew Fucolovich, added in an e-mail to National Report.
