Which college’s equipment can help you win a college basketball tournament
- July 13, 2021
In February, the NCAA announced a $10 million initiative to improve equipment and support its college basketball tournaments.
The move was hailed as a bold move that would make college basketball more competitive by putting a greater focus on team play.
But it wasn’t the only NCAA initiative that was hailed for its benefits.
For years, many college basketball players have been wearing a backpack to get to tournaments.
It has become a part of their daily life, as college basketball has grown into one of the biggest sports in the world.
But a new study conducted by a team at the University of Southern California suggests that students may be missing out on some of the benefits that come with this baggy lifestyle.
“I think we are seeing a shift in the way that students are accessing equipment,” said Dr. Daniel Ponce, an associate professor of sociology at the university and the study’s lead author.
“It’s more of a consumer-centric world, where the college student is a consumer and the gear they’re wearing has a more professional purpose than a backpack.”
Ponce said that students aren’t as motivated to wear the same gear every day as they were even 10 years ago.
“I don’t think students have any real concern about the amount of time they spend wearing the backpack,” he said.
“In terms of quality and durability, it’s going to get them through the day and into the tournament.
The backpack will get them to the tournament.”
For instance, a study released last year by the National Basketball Players Association found that most college players are wearing a different pair of shoes to get into tournaments than in years past.
The study found that about 1 in 10 players had at least one pair of professional-grade shoes on at the start of the season, compared to 1 in 5 players in 2012.
Ponce said the trend in college basketball is to have more equipment for players, not fewer.
Ponce has seen a drop in interest in the backpack as a result of the increased attention the backpack is getting.
“A lot of the attention is coming from people on the court,” he explained.
“I think that’s because a lot of these kids are just trying to get back to the old days when they had to have the same backpack on them every day and they had these different pairs of shoes.”
The backpack is a crucial piece of gear for a college athlete to be able to compete on a college team.
In college basketball, it is a piece of equipment that can help an athlete get to the next level.
According to Ponce and his team, students need a backpack in order to compete in college, and that backpack should be designed to help players achieve their full potential.
He said that while students have an affinity for the backpack, they may be unaware that the backpack can have a detrimental effect on the development of their athletic skills.
“We were talking about the backpack in terms of what it does for athletes, but we were also talking about what it’s not for athletes,” he added.
“What we’re trying to do is educate students on what the backpack does, what it can’t do for them.”
Pone said that one of his biggest concerns with the backpack was that it doesn’t allow athletes to have enough time to recover after a game.
“I would like to think that students would know that it’s just a bag that has an air pocket on it, and they can use it if they need to,” he told Bleacher Sports.
With a new emphasis on team sports, more athletes are starting to take advantage of the backpack.
A number of top players have taken to wearing the bag as a daily necessity.
James White, who was named the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2016, has said that the bag is essential for him to get in shape.
During his sophomore season at Florida State, White played in every game and was the ACC Defensive Player-of-the-Year.
White, the reigning NBA Defensive Player for the second time, said that wearing the pack to practice is important.
“It’s not just about me, it also helps my teammates, because they can have that bag in the locker room and just be more comfortable,” he stated.
White has also made it a point to wear a backpack during his pregame workout.
After a long day at the gym, White has no choice but to carry the bag around in his bag when he comes off the court.
Although White has taken to using the backpack for a few games, he said he is still unsure if it is helping him to perform on the basketball court.
“If you’re just trying your best to be the best player you can be on the floor, you’re not going to have time to really get in the zone,” White said.
